Anantapur History

Anantapur offers some vivid glimpses of the prehistoric past. It is generally held that the place got its name from 'Anaatasagaram' , a big tank, which means "Endless Ocean". The villages of Anaantasagaram and Bukkarayasamudram were constructed by Chilkkavodeya, the minister of Bukka-I, a Vijayanagar ruler. Some authorities assert that Anaantasagaram was named after Bukka's queen, while some contend that it must have been known after Anantarasa Chikkavodeya himself, as Bukka had no queen by that name.
Anantapur is familiarly known as "Hande Anantapuram" . ' Hande ' means chief of the Vijayanagar period. Anantapur and a few other places were gifted by the Vijayanagar rulers to Hanumappa Naidu of the Hande family.
The place subsequently came under the Qutub Shahis, Mughals, and the Nawabs of Cuddapah, although the Hande chiefs continued to rule as their subordinates. It was occupied by the Palergar of Bellary during the time of Ramappa but was eventually won back by his son, Siddappa. Morari Rao Ghorpade attacked Anantapur in 1757. Though the army resisted for some time, Siddappa ultimately bought off the enemy for Rs.50,000.
It then came into the possession of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. Tipu hanged all the male members of the Siddappa family except Siddappa who escaped from his confinement at Srirangapatnam. After Tipu's death, it was once again taken back by Siddappa. Siddappa submitted himself to Nizam because of the treaty of 1799, who took the total control of the area. He was later pensioned off when British occupied the territory

Jr NTR To Start New Party??

Though he is more of a superstar and gave an occasional presence in political canvassing, a lot is expected from Junior NTR.
Many political analysts and political parties are seeing Junior as the emerging force who will play a crucial role in the future of Andhra Pradesh politics.
So far, the general calculation is that junior will eventually ride the reins of the Telugu Desam Party. But the recent stray incidents and the strong grapevine about internal family feud regarding a legible successor is giving rise to new speculations.

Notable among them is the strong thought that Junior might start a separate political party.
Whether he has that intention or not, the opposition parties such as BJP, Congress and to an extent even the YSR Congress are hoping that junior does something like that.
The objective of that would be to create a split in the vote bank of Telugu Desam Party which seems to be increasing in presence and momentum under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu.
As such, the current congress party is in doldrums and if the situation continues then 2014 will be a clean wipeout for them.

On the other hand, with fanatic parties like TRS causing teething problems, the people are on the lookout for a young and energetic leader with aura. Though Jagan is there, he is still dabbling with the corruption allegations. For now, folks like Congress feel more than Junior becoming a strong leader, his parting ways with TDP will weaken the yellow brigade.
But sources close to TDP say the so–called leadership issue is something Chandrababu has perceived long back and he has a solution for this.

There is also another talk that right now, junior is keen on making his presence as the next emperor for Tollywood. Already, he has seen the fate of folks like Chiranjeevi, Rajasekhar-Jeevitha, Roja etc whose film charms resulted in zero value. So, while the dreams of anti- Chandrababu groups are resting on Junior’s stand in politics, only time will tell what this young hero has in mind. Will he be a new ‘Shakti’ to TDP or part ways like ‘Kantri’…that is the big question…
