Anantapur History

Anantapur offers some vivid glimpses of the prehistoric past. It is generally held that the place got its name from 'Anaatasagaram' , a big tank, which means "Endless Ocean". The villages of Anaantasagaram and Bukkarayasamudram were constructed by Chilkkavodeya, the minister of Bukka-I, a Vijayanagar ruler. Some authorities assert that Anaantasagaram was named after Bukka's queen, while some contend that it must have been known after Anantarasa Chikkavodeya himself, as Bukka had no queen by that name.
Anantapur is familiarly known as "Hande Anantapuram" . ' Hande ' means chief of the Vijayanagar period. Anantapur and a few other places were gifted by the Vijayanagar rulers to Hanumappa Naidu of the Hande family.
The place subsequently came under the Qutub Shahis, Mughals, and the Nawabs of Cuddapah, although the Hande chiefs continued to rule as their subordinates. It was occupied by the Palergar of Bellary during the time of Ramappa but was eventually won back by his son, Siddappa. Morari Rao Ghorpade attacked Anantapur in 1757. Though the army resisted for some time, Siddappa ultimately bought off the enemy for Rs.50,000.
It then came into the possession of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. Tipu hanged all the male members of the Siddappa family except Siddappa who escaped from his confinement at Srirangapatnam. After Tipu's death, it was once again taken back by Siddappa. Siddappa submitted himself to Nizam because of the treaty of 1799, who took the total control of the area. He was later pensioned off when British occupied the territory

Chiranjeevi: 'My Aim At Chief Minister Seat'

The secret ambition of the actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi has come out in the open!  He wants to become the Chief Minister of the state.
“The people want to see me as Chief Minister,” he declared on Tuesday in comments that lay bare his intentions behind merging his 30 month old Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress. He also announced that he would quit acting and devote full time for politics.
“Though I had earlier expressed my desire to resume acting, I have now decided to quit films and concentrate full-time on politics,” Chiranjeevi said.
“Instead of playing the role of a CM in movies, I want to become CM in real life,” he said. While declaring his son Ramcharan Teja as his successor in acting, the ageing star made it clear that he would strive to be in the midst of people and solve their problems.
”I will be more comfortable as CM in real life than playing the role in a movie,” he declared while participating in a private function in Hyderabad. His sensational comments came at a time when he is tipped for a cabinet berth at the Centre in return for merging his PRP with Congress.
One gets the doubt whether the Congress central leadership has promised Chiranjeevi to project him as the Chief Ministerial candidate in the 2014 elections.
There is a perception in political circles that the Reddy community, the traditional support base of Congress, is slipping away from the ruling party and would eventually gravitate towards YSR Congress Party headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Congress is desperate to woo other sections and also add glamour quotient to it.

Balayya's Signal To Attack MS Reddy

Though it has been a while since the controversy about M S Reddy and his book ‘Idhi Naa Kadha’ has begun, the issue has not died down. Thanks to the presence of electronic media, this will be alive for a while and now it is heard that Nandamuri Balakrishna has given his signal to show his reaction.

Recently, there was a program in the TV9 channel about M S Reddy’s doing and his actions were severely criticised by the noted producer Katragadda Prasad. While the onslaught was severe, inside sources say this was the result of Balayya’s indication. The reason is because a lot of negativity was written on N T Rama Rao.

Few incidents were also about NTR Junior and it is heard that Balayya has not taken this sweetly. The talk in filmnagar circles is that the Katragadda Prasad attack is actually an initiation from the Nandamuri family and they add that more of such things are likely to follow

I was shocked: Ram Charan

I was shocked: Ram Charan

Chiranjeevi statement to quit films forever for his goal to become CM has not only shocked Film Industry and Political Circles, but his son Ram Charan too couldn't believe it.

"like many other i was shocked to hear dad decided not to act any more and dedicate his life to serving people...not able to sleep over this," tweeted Ram Charan.

Allu Sirish, who wants the matinee idol to entertain fans, is also upset with Chiru's decision.

"I'm surprised & sad abt Megastar's statement not to act. As a hardcore fan I wish he does few more films! Wish he reconsiders this decision," tweeted Allu Sirish.

Meanwhile, Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has reacted to Chiru's comments in his style.

RGV tweeted to Ram Charan "@Alwayscharan ur dads far far superior 2 all the ppl he wants 2 serve nd why he wants 2 serve ppl who's inferior to him cmpletley beats me"

"Chiranjeevi is a phenomenon nd the people of Andhra pradesh are not nd they proved that by not making him a chief minister. But I anyday want to see the people of AP queeing up for chiranjeevis tickets rather than chiranjeevi queeing up for the fuckers votes. If ppl of AP don't make chiranjeevi CM its their bad luck nd if such ppl don't vote for him its his good luck," tweeted RGV.

Nayantara's 'Reaction' For Press 'Action'

Actress Nayanatara has been getting severe criticism ever since she was announced to be Sita in Bapu’s Sri Rama Rajyam. While Balakrishna was playing Rama, Srikanth is playing Lakshmana in it. Many in the Press wrote that Nayantara, who is known for late night parties and changing lovers, is not fit for playing Sita.

Hence Nayantara has been under rigorous diet regulations to fit into the role. She is sticking herself to Vegetarian Diet and not at all going near the drinks as well. She is leading this life to make Press know her commitment towards the role of Goddess Sita.

In fact, she is not getting close to Prabhu Deva these days for the fear of media cameras. Nayantara seems to be sticking on to chastity till the completion of shooting!!!
