Anantapur History

Anantapur offers some vivid glimpses of the prehistoric past. It is generally held that the place got its name from 'Anaatasagaram' , a big tank, which means "Endless Ocean". The villages of Anaantasagaram and Bukkarayasamudram were constructed by Chilkkavodeya, the minister of Bukka-I, a Vijayanagar ruler. Some authorities assert that Anaantasagaram was named after Bukka's queen, while some contend that it must have been known after Anantarasa Chikkavodeya himself, as Bukka had no queen by that name.
Anantapur is familiarly known as "Hande Anantapuram" . ' Hande ' means chief of the Vijayanagar period. Anantapur and a few other places were gifted by the Vijayanagar rulers to Hanumappa Naidu of the Hande family.
The place subsequently came under the Qutub Shahis, Mughals, and the Nawabs of Cuddapah, although the Hande chiefs continued to rule as their subordinates. It was occupied by the Palergar of Bellary during the time of Ramappa but was eventually won back by his son, Siddappa. Morari Rao Ghorpade attacked Anantapur in 1757. Though the army resisted for some time, Siddappa ultimately bought off the enemy for Rs.50,000.
It then came into the possession of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. Tipu hanged all the male members of the Siddappa family except Siddappa who escaped from his confinement at Srirangapatnam. After Tipu's death, it was once again taken back by Siddappa. Siddappa submitted himself to Nizam because of the treaty of 1799, who took the total control of the area. He was later pensioned off when British occupied the territory

NTR Oosaravelli movie review 3.5/5

Story:
Tony (NTR) is a typical character who changes moods and colors as per the situation. He meets Niharika (Tamanna) in an awkward situation which leads to love. He falls in love with her and chases her day and night. He gets to know that
she is already in love with someone, but chases her down till she falls in love with him. At this point the other side of him is revealed which gives us the answers for the unanswered. Actually he is on a mission to kill an entire mafia empire. Why does he do that? For whom does he work for? Watch the movie for answers.

Analysis:
Oosaravelli starts off on a high note with excellent intro scene of hero. The hero character is introduced in such a way that audience expects him to play mind games and wise tricks all the time. But the film turns out to be a love story after that hyped introduction. This part is dealt in an entertaining with NTR, Raghubabu, MS Narayana and Jayaprakash Reddy doing the honors of filling in fun moments. The real story will only start before interval and the interval scene has really come out well. The graph picks up suddenly and sets high expectations on the second half.

Second half will reveal about the hero’s mission and why he has been under disguise. This part mostly deals with the heroine and it may not be liked by hardcore NTR fans. He goes missing for more than ten minutes and the film considerably slows down. Movie takes a serious turn and comedy takes the backseat. Director tried to force comedy in bits and pieces in the second hour but it didn’t gel well.

Script wise, Oosaravelli is good barring few plot holes. But where it fails is with balancing NTR’s mass image with the hero’s characterization. Director had to sacrifice mind games and intelligent play for the sake of satisfying NTR fans, which didn’t help the film much. On a whole Oosaravelli can be watched once for its entertaining first half, interesting plot and performances of the lead star cast.

Commercially it may suffer because of going against NTR image. NTR city based fans and youth may be satisfied to see him in a new avatar, but his core audience from the B and C centers will have too many complaints with the film.

Performances:
It is good to see NTR switching genres. He did a completely different role in this movie which is more of a lover boy and less of an action hero. He also tried comedy and underplayed the emotions. It is refreshing to see him in this movie. He has to keep a check on the weight as he is gaining few kilos. His dances in Dandia India are good.

Tamanna got a very good role and she excelled in it. Generally heroines don’t get much scope in star heroes films. But this film is an exception and Tamanna lapped it up. She is gorgeous in few scenes.

Prakash Raj is routine. Jayaprakash and Raghubabu are funny. MS Narayana shared few laughs. Kick Shyam is brief and Rehaman is Okay. Sayaji Shinde’s role is half baked. Harika (Payal Ghosh) gives a neat performance.

Technicalities:
Koratala Siva dialogues worked in places. On a whole lacked the necessary punch. Devi Sri Prasad’s background score is fabulous. Two songs are very good. Rasool camera is one of the highlights of the movie. Action part is dealt well. There are few action scenes but are shot in an exciting fashion. Production values are rich.

Surender Reddy did well as a director to handle the script well. However, he is off balance at times as he is ‘confused’ to stick with the content or to go with NTR’s mass image. He should have opted for a small hero instead of choosing a star for this script, which would have done wonders for him.

Final Word:

Don’t expect a brand NTR film!

Oosaravelli Movie Rating: 3.5/5

Banner: Sri Venkateswara Cini Chitra
Casting: Jr NTR, Tamanna, Prakash Raj, Shyam, Jayaprakash, Raghubabu, MS Narayana
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Producer: BVSN Prasad

KANCHANA REVIW 3/5

Movie Review : Kanchana
Rating : 3/5
Banner : Sri Sai Ganesh Productions
Cast : Larencce Ragava, Lakshmi Rai, Sarath Kumar, Kovai Sarala, Sreeman, Devadarshani, Babu Antony, Manobalaand Others
Music : S S Thaman
Cinematography : Vetri
Producer: Bellamkonda Suresh
Director: Larencce Raghava
Released Date: July 14, 2011

Story:
A horror treat, the story begins with Raghava (larencce) who is a kind hearted man with helping nature and loves cricket. However, the one thing that scares him the most is ghosts and he doesn't even sleep alone and has his mom with him. But then, that doesn't stop him from loving Priya (Lakshmi rai) a hot model. The story takes a turn when Raghava and his friends go to an unmanned ground to play cricket. Unknowingly, he awakens a spirit and gets it home. From then on things change in his home and eventually Raghava gets possessed and starts killing few people. Who is that spirit and what is its past forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a different storyline and while the presentation was nice, the narrative was better. The dialogues were regular, the script was good but had few visible flaws while the screenplay was adequate. Background score was good and songs were meant for the masses. Cinematography was apt. Editing was sharp but few scenes got jumped. Costumes were upto the mark while the art department was good in few places. Larencce has come up with a regular performance and nothing special from him. Lakshmi Rai looks sizzling hot and her voluptuous sex appeal will satisfy the eyes. The real showstealer was Sarath Kumar who came up with a stupendous performance. Kovai Sarala was irritating, Devadarshini was alright, Sreeman was funny, Babu Antony was brief, the others did their bit as required.

Conclusion:
The film happens to be a sequel to the movie Muni. As expected, there was a lot of mass masala and the taking was also meant for the commercial audience. However, this time the intensity was different and the shock points were more. While the first half keeps the mystery alive but spoils the pace with silly comedy, it is the second half which has few serious things and dramatic movements. The climax is the highlight. At the box office, this is a film which will appeal to the mass audience and given the genre it is not meant for kids.

Movie review - Nanna 3.10/5

Story

nannaKrishna (Vikram) is a mentally-challenged adult whose wife dies while giving birth to his daughter Vennela (Baby Sarah). He works in a chocolate factory and is being helped by his colleagues and owner. When Vennela is 5 years old, she is forcibly taken by her grandfather (Sachin Khedekar). The rest of the story is all about how he wages a legal battle with him for his daughter with the help of a young lawyer (Anushka).
Artists Performance
Vikram comes up with another spellbinding performance as a mentally-challenged person. You will see only the character in this movie. He looks very cute despite playing a uncomfortable character. He is bound to win awards for his phenomenal portrayal. Baby Sarah has done a terrific work. She dominated Vikram at times. She is helped by a beautiful characterization. Anushka is pretty good in a supporting role. Amala Paul resembles Deepika Padukone in a few angles and she is perfect. Nassar and Sachin Khedekar have done justice.
Technical departments
nannaStory - screenplay - direction: The story of this film is loosely inspired by the Hollywood flick ‘I am Sam’. It has a nice story line. Director Vijay is sensible and has a class of his own. It reflects in the way he narrated the story and in the way he seamlessly blended humor. There is a nice feel throughout the movie. Screenplay in the second half is pretty good. It is very difficult to succeed in sustaining interest when the entire second half is dominated by the court scenes. There are many scenes in this movie (especially father-daughter combination one) that are heart-touching. Director Vijay succeeds in narrating the story in interesting way without falling prey for the commercial elements.
Other departments: Music by GV Prakash Kumar complements the mood of the movie. None of the songs look forced. Cinematography by Nirav Shah is excellent. I loved the way the scooter song is canned with slow-mo camera. The story-telling song is highly creative. The sets are realistic (especially the chocolate factory and court-room interiors). Editing is fine. Dialogues are neat and heart-touching at times. Producers Malla Vijay Prasad and Santosham Suresh risked a bit and it is worth it.
nannaAnalysis: Beginning of the film is slow. First half of the film is neat though lengthy and devoid of story. Second half is pacy with good screenplay and drama. Plus points of the film are performances (Vikram and Baby Sarah), second half screenplay and classy direction. On the flip side the first half of the film needs trimming as it’s too lengthy. On a whole, Nanna is a decent film with nice sentiment. The success of the movie will depend on the mouth talk and how the family crowds in A/B centers patronize it.

Chiranjeevi: 'My Aim At Chief Minister Seat'

The secret ambition of the actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi has come out in the open!  He wants to become the Chief Minister of the state.
“The people want to see me as Chief Minister,” he declared on Tuesday in comments that lay bare his intentions behind merging his 30 month old Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress. He also announced that he would quit acting and devote full time for politics.
“Though I had earlier expressed my desire to resume acting, I have now decided to quit films and concentrate full-time on politics,” Chiranjeevi said.
“Instead of playing the role of a CM in movies, I want to become CM in real life,” he said. While declaring his son Ramcharan Teja as his successor in acting, the ageing star made it clear that he would strive to be in the midst of people and solve their problems.
”I will be more comfortable as CM in real life than playing the role in a movie,” he declared while participating in a private function in Hyderabad. His sensational comments came at a time when he is tipped for a cabinet berth at the Centre in return for merging his PRP with Congress.
One gets the doubt whether the Congress central leadership has promised Chiranjeevi to project him as the Chief Ministerial candidate in the 2014 elections.
There is a perception in political circles that the Reddy community, the traditional support base of Congress, is slipping away from the ruling party and would eventually gravitate towards YSR Congress Party headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Congress is desperate to woo other sections and also add glamour quotient to it.

Balayya's Signal To Attack MS Reddy

Though it has been a while since the controversy about M S Reddy and his book ‘Idhi Naa Kadha’ has begun, the issue has not died down. Thanks to the presence of electronic media, this will be alive for a while and now it is heard that Nandamuri Balakrishna has given his signal to show his reaction.

Recently, there was a program in the TV9 channel about M S Reddy’s doing and his actions were severely criticised by the noted producer Katragadda Prasad. While the onslaught was severe, inside sources say this was the result of Balayya’s indication. The reason is because a lot of negativity was written on N T Rama Rao.

Few incidents were also about NTR Junior and it is heard that Balayya has not taken this sweetly. The talk in filmnagar circles is that the Katragadda Prasad attack is actually an initiation from the Nandamuri family and they add that more of such things are likely to follow

I was shocked: Ram Charan

I was shocked: Ram Charan

Chiranjeevi statement to quit films forever for his goal to become CM has not only shocked Film Industry and Political Circles, but his son Ram Charan too couldn't believe it.

"like many other i was shocked to hear dad decided not to act any more and dedicate his life to serving people...not able to sleep over this," tweeted Ram Charan.

Allu Sirish, who wants the matinee idol to entertain fans, is also upset with Chiru's decision.

"I'm surprised & sad abt Megastar's statement not to act. As a hardcore fan I wish he does few more films! Wish he reconsiders this decision," tweeted Allu Sirish.

Meanwhile, Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has reacted to Chiru's comments in his style.

RGV tweeted to Ram Charan "@Alwayscharan ur dads far far superior 2 all the ppl he wants 2 serve nd why he wants 2 serve ppl who's inferior to him cmpletley beats me"

"Chiranjeevi is a phenomenon nd the people of Andhra pradesh are not nd they proved that by not making him a chief minister. But I anyday want to see the people of AP queeing up for chiranjeevis tickets rather than chiranjeevi queeing up for the fuckers votes. If ppl of AP don't make chiranjeevi CM its their bad luck nd if such ppl don't vote for him its his good luck," tweeted RGV.

Nayantara's 'Reaction' For Press 'Action'

Actress Nayanatara has been getting severe criticism ever since she was announced to be Sita in Bapu’s Sri Rama Rajyam. While Balakrishna was playing Rama, Srikanth is playing Lakshmana in it. Many in the Press wrote that Nayantara, who is known for late night parties and changing lovers, is not fit for playing Sita.

Hence Nayantara has been under rigorous diet regulations to fit into the role. She is sticking herself to Vegetarian Diet and not at all going near the drinks as well. She is leading this life to make Press know her commitment towards the role of Goddess Sita.

In fact, she is not getting close to Prabhu Deva these days for the fear of media cameras. Nayantara seems to be sticking on to chastity till the completion of shooting!!!

Allari Naresh treating with ‘Madathakaja’

The tall and talented Allari Naresh is all set to arrive with his
new movie titled Madathakaja. This is being directed by Sitarama
Raju while Damodar Prasad is the producer. Naresh is pairing up
with the slender beauty Sneha Ullal and the shooting is happening
at Ramoji city. Sources say the film is expected to hit the screens
in July. Already, Naresh has scored a hit in his recent movie
Seema Tapakai. Further details about Madathakaja will be
revealed soon.

Nara Lokesh Becoming Producer???

Nara Lokesh, the son of Chandrababu
Naidu has got no separate identity till now. Even the
people cannot connect to him as grand son of NTR
instantly. But he has thezeal to get into politics.
In stead of doing that as son of Chandrababu,
he has chosen a different line He wants to get identity in
public now. So he is entering into film industry
first as producer. If he gets recognition as film personality,
 then people recognize him better.

This idea was liked by Chandrababu as well. Hence he waved the yellow flag for
his son it seems. So very soon we see Nara Lokesh Naidu as film producer.

These days even the B grade and C grade producers are getting identity with
just one or two films. Then it is obvious that Chandrababu's son gets better
scope to gain popularity very soon.

Bunny gives Double Trouble for NTR

Bunny gives Double Trouble for NTR

Veteran MS Reddy revealed the other dark side of Junior NTR in his book ‘Idee Naa Katha’ by calling him ‘Arrogant’ (Pogarubothu). Before the die hard Nandamuri Fans tried to digest this news, here comes one more blow as media started comparisons between Junior NTR and allu arjun get ups in ‘Shakti’ and ‘Badrinath’ respectively.  While both of them being saviors for temples, there was just a differentiation in terminology, if Tarak was ‘Rakshakudu,’ Bunny was called as ‘Kshetra Palakudu’ but duties being the same.

Undoubtedly an analogy of sorts was inevitable and distinction marks are awarded to Bunny while Tarak stood much below the pass marks. The macho look with exposed six packs and biceps made allu arjun the apt match for ‘Badri’ warrior character while Tarak’s ‘Rudra’ has become comedy stuff. However Junior enjoying more following in masses has dug his own pit with ‘Rudra’ and ‘Shakti’ while allu arjun’s ‘Badrinath’ is almost to face the defeat yet a small respite because the amount of hard work put in for the film is recognized by audience. Timing of ‘Badrinath’ is making Junior NTR to face the double trouble.

MS Reddy’s remarks hurt Jr. NTR fans

Veteran producer and lyricist MS Reddy also known as Mallemala has written an autobiography named “Idee Naa Katha” which is sending tremors in Tollywood. This book consists of various experiences of MS Reddy and also his encounters with different people in Tollywood.

MS Reddy didn’t fear to expose the ‘dark side’ of few actors and directors in his book. He wrote that Jr. NTR is the most selfish person who doesn’t keep his word. Reddy said that NTR promised to do a film on his banner as hero but he never kept it. “I am the one who introduced him to silver screen with Ramayanam,” Reddy mentioned.

“I asked NTR Jr. to wait for few minutes as Subbirami Reddy came to visit me. We are in the middle of a story narration then. But he left without notice saying that his ‘range’ is so big to be kept waited. He is very arrogant,” Reddy fired. These comments are not going well with NTR fans. They are planning to burn off Reddy’s books as a result. NTR is yet to comment on MS Reddy remarks against him.

Badrinath to put breaks for Allu Arjun’s FS!

Allu Arjun was once considered as the hero with
golden arm. All his initial films were hits. Except
Happy, which was a decent earner in few
regions rest of the films in Bunny’s first five
flicks were hits. However, his struggles started
with Arya 2 in which he played an eccentric role
that didn’t go down well with the masses.
Although Arya 2 has cult following, it is too limited
that the film ended up as a flop. However, well
wishers of Bunny claim that it was commercial
hit. But in fact it is not. Later Varudu proved to
be the first major disaster in Allu Arjun’s career.
Vedam which was critically acclaimed was ended
up as flop on the commercial front. With a row
of flops Allu Arjun has taken big decision to do
a film of Badrinath’s caliber. This film is one
of the biggest budget films in Tollywood history
. Allu Arjun hopes that this film would put
breaks on his flop streak and get him back
into winning ways. Let’s hope so.
